Recent Activities:
I am an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing.
We organized a Workshop on Spoken Language
Understanding at AAAI
2005, The Twentieth National Conference on Artificial Intelligence,
Pittsburgh, PA, 2005.
We (guest) edited the Special Issue of the Speech Communication Journal
on Spoken
Language Understanding for Conversational Systems.
We organized a tutorial at ACL 2004:
Adaptive Learning: From Supervised to Active Learning of statistical models for Natural Language and Speech Processing. We organized a special session:
Towards Adaptive Machines: Active and Unsupervised Learning
at ICSLP 2004, Eighth
International Conference on Spoken Language Processing.
We are organizing a tutorial on "Spoken Language Understanding" at IEEE ICASSP 2007.
I am currently working on spoken language understanding for information distillation and spoken dialog systems. Previously, I worked on active learning and unsupervised learning for automatic speech recognition and spoken language understanding, natural language generation for machine translation, statistical morphological disambiguation, and information extraction from speech using prosodic and lexical information. Check my CV and publications for more information about my research.
