Professor Richard M. Karp is currently the leader of the Algorithms Group at the International Computer Science Institute as well as Professor at UC Berkeley. He is well known for his research in algorithms and computational biology. In addition to his extensive research projects, Professor Karp works closely with several PhD students and postdocs at ICSI and UC Berkeley. He is the former Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences Section 34.
