Recognizing a spoken time on a $30 alarm clock presents a unique set of challenges to speech recognition algorithms. E.g. there is less than 2KB of RAM to do calculations in and you have to run off two AAA batteries for many months. I will discuss the challenges and detail some of the solutions we developed at Sensory to perform practical speech recognition in limited footprint consumer devices.
