ICSI's Corporate Partnership Program provides participating companies with timely access to research output and opportunities for interaction with our key scientific personnel. We have established four categories in this program:
1) Affiliate: Maintaining a connection
Benefit: An Affiliate can monitor research at ICSI. Affiliates will be invited to the annual review meeting, at which current ICSI research highlights will be described by key scientific personnel. Affiliates will also be placed on the ICSI mailing list for talks and other Institute events, and will receive copies of the ICSI newsletter and the annual activity report.
2) Member: Enabling industrial visits
Benefit: A Member can both monitor and participate in research at ICSI. In addition to the benefits for the Affiliate status, this category entitles the sponsor to one person-year's worth of visitor time. This could, for instance, be a one year visit from a single visitor, or four three-month visits by different company personnel; more generally, each visitor agreement will specify the form that seems most appropriate to both parties. Intellectual property generated during joint work will be shared by ICSI and the member by appropriate joint ownership or cross licensing arrangements.
3) Sponsor: Active collaboration through staffing
Benefit: A Sponsor will provide support for one or more staff research slots. Each slot will correspond to a scientific hire, but will also cover equipment, administrative support, and travel. By involvement with the staffing process the Sponsor will have a greater influence over research direction than is possible for a Member. In addition to the IP rights enjoyed at the Member level, a Sponsor will receive nonexclusive licensing rights to intellectual work product developed independently at ICSI by the sponsored ICSI staff. Funded personnel will host the Sponsor's visiting scientists, and collaboration will be encouraged.
4) Group Sponsor: Dedicating multiple slots to a topic area
Benefit: If the number of Sponsored slots devoted to a particular research area is four or more, then a separate group will be established and the name of the Sponsor will be attached to the group. This will result in much greater visibility for the Sponsor in the research community, not only because of the name, but also because the group will be of critical size to be recognized on its own as a center of excellence within ICSI. At this level of sponsorship, ICSI typically will negotiate customized IP arrangements with the Group Sponsor. The specific terms and conditions of any partnering relationship shall be set forth in an agreement between ICSI and the partner organization. The descriptions above are intended only to provide general information to prospective partners. These descriptions neither constitute an agreement or an amendment of any agreement with any person. ICSI reserves the right to modify these descriptions from time-to-time.
