Delivering Real-Time Multimedia Streams using RaptorQ

This project focuses on reliable low-latency multicast delivery of multimedia streams using the RaptorQ codes specified in IETF RFC 6330.

A software prototype implementation of the ROUTE protocol utilizing RaptorQ will be developed and evaluated for this application.

Funding provided by Comcast Innovation Fund.

ICSI Researchers Win Best Paper Award at 2019 IEEE Big MM

ICSI researchers Gerald Friedland and Jaeyoung Choi, along with co-authors Martha Larson and Alan Hanjalic, have won the best paper award at the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Big Data for their work on “From Intra-Modal to Inter-Modal Space: Multi-task Learning of Joint Representation for Cross-Modal Retrieval." The paper will be avilable to read here once it is published in the coming weeks.

Professor Wolfgang Wahlster, ICSI Board of Trustees member and CEA of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI),was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented the award to Wolfgang Wahlster on the 2nd of October 2019 during a ceremony in Berlin at Bellevue Castle. The Great Cross is the highest tribute Germany can pay to individuals for services to the nation. Wahlster was honored for his outstanding achievements in the field of AI research at DFKI and Saarland University during four decades.
