Elizabeth Shriberg is a principal scientist in the Conversational Systems Research Center at Microsoft Research in Mountain View, California. She received her doctorate in cognitive psychology from UC Berkeley in 1994 and went on to an NSF-NATO postdoctoral fellowship at IPO in the Netherlands. Before joining Microsoft, she was a senior researcher in the Speech Technology and Research Laboratory at SRI International in Menlo Park, California. She has served on the boards of several speech and language journals and conferences, is an adjunct associate professor at the Center for Advanced Study of Language at the University of Maryland, has co-organized several workshops sponsored by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), and has served on the ISCA Advisory Council and on the Permanent Council of the International Conference on Spoken Language Processing. She is a ISCA Fellow and a Fellow of SRI. Her main interest is spontaneous speech processing. In her work, she aims to combine linguistic knowledge with corpora and techniques from automatic spoken language processing in order to advance both scientific understanding and recognition technology.
