"Parallel Computing in Switzerland"

Abstract:

Recent trends and principal institutions in the country that use massively parallel computing will be surveyed. Research organization in the past will be characterized and new developments such as the design of a parallel, distributed memory computer using the Easy-net architecture will be documented.

Prof. Coray is Vice-President of the Swiss Association for Research in Information Technologies (SARIT, formerly SGFI) and also member of the scientific advisory board of IDIAP. He is full professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). His interests include combinatorial problem solving, parallel computation, distance learning and multimedia/multimodal documents.
