Abstract:

'The Virtual Internet Gallery' (TVIG) provides an electronic service for galleries and artists, which allows them to exhibit their artwork on the Internet in a very easy and efficient way.

In this talk we will present the developed system and explain its architecture. Furthermore the benefits and drawbacks of 3D user interfaces will be discussed. TVIG utilizes a database to provide better and more efficient query functionality than conventional art-related Web pages. The query results are visualized as a VRML scene, which is generated on the fly using VRML's 'External Authoring Interface' (EAI). The structure of the resulting gallery can be configured by the user. The talk will be concluded with a short demonstration of the running system.

This talk will be held in the Main Lecture Hall at ICSI.
