This presentation focuses on intelligent information processing and its industrial applications applying machine vision and neural computing. Experiences on technology transfer from academia to industry are discussed.
Laboratory of Information Processing is divided into two sublaboratories: Machine Vision and Software Engineering. One of the Laboratory's primary goals is to build intelligent vision systems. Research areas are divided into activities on digital vision systems, soft computing applications, and software engineering, including activities in pattern recognition and machine vision, color vision and multispectral image processing, and molecular, neural, and evolutionary computing.
The Laboratory has had an active role in developing industrial applications of machine vision and neural networks in Finland. Some of these applications are discussed during the presentation.
