Building History

Picture of ICSI 1947 Center Street, a six story office building in the Art Deco style, was designed in 1947 by Berkeley architect, James W. Placheck, for the State Farm Insurance Company. The building forms a handsome companion to Placheck's Farm Credit Building, the present City Hall, and the Civic Center Park, giving the historic Berkeley Civic Center a unified architectural style.
