Abstract

There have been many recent papers on data-oriented orcontent-centric network architectures. Despite the voluminousliterature, surprisingly little clarity is emerging as mostpapers focus on what differentiates them from other proposals. We begin this paper by identifying the existing commonalitiesand important differences in these designs, and then discusssome remaining research issues. After our review, we emergeskeptical (but open-minded) about the value of this approachto networking.
