Abstract | This paper presents a numerical approach that projectsfrequency-dependent directivity patterns of classicrecording microphones onto steerable beams createdwith a spherical microphone array. In an anechoicchamber, the spatial and timbral characteristics of alegacy recording microphone and the characteristics of a120-channel spherical microphone array were measured.Using a least-square matching approach, the measuredfrequency responses were used to calculate the setof lters that synthesize the desired legacy recordingmicrophone characteristic from the 120-channel sphericalmicrophone array. Synthesized microphone-beams areshown and compared with the measured characteristicsof the original legacy microphones. |
